I am interested in working on this feature request to enable HTTP transport for the Chrome DevTools MCP server.

Motivation & Context:
Network-based access would enhance the flexibility and integration potential for projects relying on Chrome DevTools MCP, especially in distributed or automated debugging scenarios. Supporting HTTP alongside stdio could make MCP accessible in cloud, CI/CD pipelines, and remote debugging workflows where direct stdio is impractical.

Experience:
I have experience with Node.js server implementations and have contributed to developer tooling and network transport layers in open source. I am comfortable working with JavaScript/TypeScript and familiar with the architecture of Chrome DevTools Protocol and similar systems.

Proposed Next Steps:

• Investigate the current transport layer abstraction in MCP.
• Propose a minimal design to expose a configurable HTTP endpoint, activating only via explicit flag/config to preserve security.
• Ensure interoperability with existing client workflows and add documentation/usage notes.
• Provide tests to validate correct and secure operation.

Please let me know if you have any design preferences, security considerations, or existing related efforts I should be aware of before I begin implementation. If you’re open to it, I would appreciate being assigned this issue.

Thank you for your response and the valuable information.

To provide some context from my side, I have already implemented a basic version of an HTTP transport layer internally for testing purposes. It currently handles interaction via POST requests.

However, I recognize that my implementation likely has deviations from the official MCP specification, which is why it faces compatibility issues with many existing workflows.

I greatly appreciate the work your team is doing.

I'm fully supportive of your efforts and look forward to seeing this functionality implemented in the official project.
