Is it possible to interpret PATTERN as fixed strings OR as basic regular expressions (BRE)?

Scenario:

$ rg --version
ripgrep 14.1.1 (rev 4649aa9700)

$ echo "(" | rg "(" --engine=default
rg: regex parse error:
    (?:()
    ^
error: unclosed group

$ echo "(" | rg "(" --engine=auto
rg: regex could not be compiled with either the default regex engine or with PCRE2.

$ echo "(" | grep -F "("
(

$ echo "(" | grep -G "("
(

Note: I don't want to escape all ( in the input. I want to rg to interpret PATTERN as fixed strings OR as basic regular expressions (BRE). Is it possible? Is yes, then how?

Any other solutions w/o escaping all ( in the input?

The same way you would with grep...

$ echo "(" | rg -F "("
(

ripgrep doesn't support BREs.

Thanks. I missed -F, --fixed-strings in the help:

$ rg --help | grep fixed
    -F, --fixed-strings
        This flag can be disabled with --no-fixed-strings.
        prefixed by 0x.

I was under impression that "fixed strings" mode may be enabled via --engine=fixed-strings (or similar).

P.S. Under "escaping all ( in the input" I meant "escaping all ( in the PATTERN".
