Stagers

I am refreshing myself after learning to use C2s and Sliver and stepping away for a while. What is the current state of stagers, can they be generated for linux, and if so, in shellcode format? It is unclear to me from the documentation, and in the actual program it says that shellcode is windows only.

When I ran `generate stager -o linux -f shellcode' it generated shellcode, but when I ran without the format flag it generated a .exe
