[BUG] - Task Manager network category & Data Usage not working #1016
Comments
This is the second time I’ve installed the atlas in the last year and the second time I’ve had this bug |
if the developers can reply that would be nice |
Try enabling troubleshooting in the Atlas folder |
@he3als doesn't work for me |
Are you on v0.3.1/v0.3.2? |
On v0.3.2 |
I'm on the latest version too. This remains the only persistent bug for me. |
Agreed. Have the same issue. Version is 0.3.2 on Windows 11 23H2 |
Are you on the latest version of main or the latest version on the website? If website then I'd recommend trying to reproduce on the latest artifact instead. |
Can you expand on this? I used the download from the website when I reinstalled windows not too long ago. I'm not keen on wiping and reinstalling again, and it seems that atlas cannot be upddated. |
Yeah, that isn't the most recent version to the development standard really. When I say latest artifact I mean using the playbook based on the current last commit. |
Hi - does this still happen in v0.4.0? |
Hi, yes same issue for me. 🫤 |
Was this after following the documentation to reinstall? Upgrades from previous versions to v0.4.0 aren't supported. |
Yes, I followed the documentation and yes, I did a clean install of Windows |
I got the same problem in v0.4.0 |
win11 23H2 |
yes , its happening to me too, clean install 0.4.0 |
I am also interested to know how to fix this. |

This issue is still relevant, but it's hard to track down as it seems to break after a random amount of time after applying Atlas. I tried to fix it for v0.4.0, but I couldn't find a root cause in time. It's a priority for this to be fixed for the next release. |
Does data usage in Settings work? |
No
Yes
Didn’t fix it I don’t have usage data in settings |
same for me, dont have such settings. |
Check if DPS service is enabled, as many users reported that it breaks those exact statistics. |
It is enabled on my system. |
Diagnostic Policy Service is already running on my system I don’t have OneSyncSvc, TrkWks, PcaSvc, DiagTrack, dignostichub.standardcollector.service, wersvc or UCPD services. Enabling wercplsupport didn’t help. |
@Zahrun : What does the powershell command do : Get-Service | Where-Object {$_.Name -like "*OneSyncSvc*" -or $_.Name -like "*TrkWks*" -or $_.Name -like "*PcaSvc*" -or $_.Name -like "*DiagTrack*" -or $_.Name -like "*diagnosticshub.standardcollector.service*" -or $_.Name -like "*Wersvc*" -or $_.Name -like "*wercplsupport*" -or $_.Name -like "*UCPD*"} | ft Name, DisplayName, StartType, Status For my part :
|
They have diffrent names in services.msc, anyways check in registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DusmSvc is value "Start" set to 2. This might help. |
On my system, OneSyncSvc could not be set to "Automatic" or "Manual" due to the "Parameter is incorrect" error, WerSvc does not exist, and UCPD was already running. After setting the rest of the service to "Automatic", starting them and rebooting, nothing changed about either the "Network" column in Task Manager or Data Usage in settings. |
Hi, I just went through all these checks since I have the same issue. EDIT: after installing Windows 11 Pro version from last month, no problem. Same on Atlas. A clean install should work. |
Then probably as Gabriel said, it's just Windows overall problem, although I am pretty sure this is some tweak or service. |
It works on mine using (Windows 11 Consumer 24H2 ISO) from massgrave. The edition I'm using is Windows 11 Pro the Options i used are Enable Defender, Enable Mitigations, Disable auto Updates, Disable both Hibernation and Core Isolation, Remove Snipping and Edge, Installed LibreWolf and that's it. Worked out of the box |
This is the result:
So I activated the mentionned services
and rebooted the machine but the problem still persists.
You are right, it was my mistake to not be able to find them
Same here, I guess the service is uninstalled altogether when uninstalling OneDrive |
Hey, sorry i cannot confirm since it has worked from the installation this service being disable (but it didn't work before my install as I mentioned above). |

same problem, before installing AtlasOS it was working |
Right now I have DiagTrack disabled but DPS running, and... it's different now for some reason. Now sorting by network usage does nothing. Re-enabling the DPS service and restarting Task Manager did not help. I didn't change anything in my system in the meantime. |
Can you try enabling (and setting start to automatic) service Data Usage (DusmSvc)? |
Nevermind, I found the reason (atleast for me) that caused this. Enable Network Location Awareness service and it should work. I don't know why it's needed but just enable it. Works fine for me. Or just paste this command inside Powershell and it should work:
For context, it enables those services: DPS |
Thanks for sharing your solution, unfortunately this problem continues to be a pain in the rear - there seems to be yet another thing responsible for this. |
Same for me, it doesn't work |
When you go into settings inside Task Manager, (it's the gear icon in bottom left. Make sure it doesn't say Paused in 'Real Time Update Speed' option. Set it to Normal if so. |
On my system, DiagTrack, DPS, and DusmSvc are all enabled and automatic and still I see no network speed per process in task manager |
+1. I have had this issue persist through my previous 2 AtlasOS installs. I am willing to share anything I can to help squash this bug |
Revert to Windows Default Services then try. |
